The Dallas Cowboys will exercise their fifth-year option on center Travis Frederick's contract prior to next week's draft, sources told David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

Dallas officially picking up the final year on Frederick's initial rookie deal will ensure that he remains under contract through at least the 2017 season.

While the two sides are expected to open negotiations on a long-term deal well in advance of the final year on Frederick's contract, he'd tentatively be slated for a bump in salary to $8.8 million.

In three seasons since joining the Cowboys as a first-round pick in 2013, Frederick has emerged as one of the league's most productive centers, serving as a key cog in a dominant offensive front.

The Wisconsin product started every game over that stretch, earning Pro Bowl honors in both 2014 and 2015.
