All remains quiet on the Colin Kaepernick front.

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway indicated Thursday that trade talks with the San Francisco 49ers are "dormant," according to Lindsay Jones of USA Today Sports.

Elway added that Denver's offer is still on the table, seeming to concede that negotiations could again heat up at some point in the coming weeks. For the time being, though, each side appears to be sticking to its initial demands.

As the team searches for additional competition alongside Mark Sanchez, Elway admitted that signing fellow veteran signal-caller Brian Hoyer is a possibility.

Neither player would be considered a long-term solution, making it likely that the team would prefer to either add Kaepernick or select a rookie quarterback in the draft.

Kaepernick is coming off a 2015 season in which injuries limited him to just nine games.

The 49ers and Broncos were previously thought to have reached an agreement about compensation, but Kaepernick has reportedly resisted taking a pay cut significant enough to keep Denver under the salary cap.
