WWE legend Jake "The Snake" Roberts battled drug and alcohol addiction for years before fellow wrestler Diamond Dallas Page helped turn his life around. Now sober, Roberts wants to pay it forward.

The 60-year-old told SI.com's Justin Barrasso that he's reached out to former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel several times, but all of his calls have gone unanswered.

"He's not coming along, but I'll keep reaching out," Roberts said. "I just wonder how much more he's going to have to suffer before he does something about it.

"He just made the news again. I've been there, I understand, so that's why I wish he would contact me. I wish I could give him some pointers and maybe I could help him out. I don't know how much more he can take before he dies."

Manziel has continued to make headlines for the wrong reasons since being released by the Browns in March. In the past week, he's been accused of trashing a rental property during a drug-fueled party, was dropped by agent Drew Rosenhaus, and had his contract with Nike terminated.

In a statement released Tuesday, the troubled quarterback said he's focused on taking care of the "issues" in front of him so he can play in 2016.

"I can't tell you the amount of letters I've got from people trying to change their lives, too," Roberts said. "If I can do it, somebody else can, too. Somebody else can be a Dallas, and somebody else can be a Jake."
