The ongoing contract saga between the New York Jets and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is reportedly nowhere close to ending.

Barring a significant breakthrough, the two sides are not expected to have a deal in place before the draft, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jets owner Woody Johnson spoke briefly about the Fitzpatrick situation at D'Brickashaw Ferguson's retirement press conference Thursday, stating there's been "no real change" from the team's standpoint. Johnson also noted that while he would prefer to have the situation resolved before the draft, he understands things may not work out that way.

In the meantime, the Jets appear to be exploring other options. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported Sunday that the team has interest in free-agent quarterback Brian Hoyer and will likely schedule a visit with him as early as this week.
