The Texans exercised Hopkins' option on the fifth year of his contract

The Texans exercised Hopkins' option on the fifth year of his contract, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

Coming off a dominant season in which he collected 111 passes for 1,521 and 11 touchdowns, it shouldn't be much of a surprise the Texans were willing to pick up the option on the final year of his rookie contract. The Clemson product will remain with the team through 2017 at the very least, but the Texans will likely try to extend him prior to then. Hopkins should once again serve as the team's top wideout, but will prepare to catch passes from the recently-acquired Brock Osweiler.
