Rams waited to announce trade in honor of Kobe's last game

The Los Angeles Rams held off on announcing their blockbuster trade because they didn't want to crash Kobe Bryant's retirement party, the team confirmed Thursday.

"Kobe deserved his night," a Rams official said to Adam Schefter of ESPN. "There was no reason for this trade to be announced on his night."

The Rams completed their trade with the Tennessee Titans for the first overall pick in this year's draft on Wednesday evening, but head coach Jeff Fisher reportedly didn't want the announcement to overshadow the Los Angeles Lakers star's final NBA game.
