49ers add Jeff Driskel to complicated QB situation
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports
The San Francisco 49ers have selected quarterback Jeff Driskel out of Louisiana Tech in the 6th round (207th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Once the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the nation, Driskel's time at Florida was highly tumultuous. He transferred to Louisiana Tech in early 2015.
Driskel is an excellent athlete and still has high upside - at least theoretically. It's possible new 49ers head coach Chip Kelly believes he can mold Driskel into a player capable of taking the starting job from Colin Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert or whoever starts at quarterback for the 49ers this season.
