The Minnesota Vikings have selected linebacker Kentrell Brothers out of Missouri in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
This is the third draft in a row that the Vikings have drafted a linebacker. Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks have had success early in their careers under Mike Zimmer and Brothers projects to follow a similar path.
Brothers will not be asked to start as a rookie, but could be the first man off the bench at all three linebacker positions and eventually replace veteran Chad Greenway. Brothers doesn't have the speed teams look for in an every-down linebacker, but can contribute in run stopping situations.
