Dolphins add CB Jordan Lucas in 6th round

Rich Barnes / USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins have selected cornerback Jordan Lucas out of Penn State 204th overall in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Lucas played both safety and cornerback at Penn State, but will feature in the latter position, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.

"I played corner three years in college, safety for one. Played a lot of press," Lucas told Beasley.

The former Penn State defensive back possesses great closing speed. However, Lucas will need to work on his diagnostic ability as he takes poor routes to the football.

  • Always in pursuit of interceptions and reads quarterback's eyes well after pocket breaks down.

Weaknesses

  • Struggles to disengage from opposition in run support.
  • Takes poor routes to the ball carrier and shows subpar diagnostic ability after the snap.
  • Struggles to contain larger wide receivers and relies on recovery speed to track down smaller ball carriers.
