NFL Game Summary - Houston at Dallas

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Case Keenum and T.J. Yates threw a touchdown pass as the Houston Texans routed the Dallas Cowboys, 24-6, in the preseason finale from AT&T Stadium.

Keenum started the contest and completed 9-of-13 throws for 128 yards while Yates threw for 109 on 8-of-11 attempts. The two quarterbacks are battling for the backup job behind Matt Schaub.

Rookies Cierre Wood and Dennis Johnson ran for 107 and 79 yards, respectively, with the latter adding his first touchdown of the preseason and three fumbles, only one of which was lost. Ryan Griffin caught five balls for 87 yards.

Houston finished the preseason 3-1 and will open the regular season in San Diego on Monday, Sept. 9.

Alex Tanney threw for 177 yards and a pick on 17-of-31 passes for Dallas, which fell to 2-3 in the preseason. The Cowboys will meet the New York Giants in an NFC East clash on Sunday night, Sept. 8.

Johnson's five-yard touchdown scamper capped a six-play, 87-yard drive to put Houston up 7-0 after 15 minutes of play.

Dan Bailey put Dallas on the board with a 38-yard field goal midway through the second quarter before the Texans struck again, this time on Keenum's 27- yard pitch and catch with Lester Jean.

Randy Bullock's 39-yard field goal resulted in the only points of the third quarter, and Andy Cruse caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Yates on the first play from scrimmage in the fourth.

Bailey's second field goal of the night with 29 seconds remaining in the game capped the scoring.

Texans defenders sacked Tanney seven times while Dallas did not record a single sack.
