Report: Goodell and Payton have discussed reinstatement

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and suspended New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton have reportedly begun discussions regarding Payton's reinstatement, according to ESPN.

According to the report, Payton is hoping to have the suspension modified so that it ends at the end of the regular season instead of after the Super Bowl, which is being held in New Orleans this season.

The report also states that Goodell says "more focused conversations" about Payton's reinstatement will take place after the holidays.

On Tuesday, the players involved in the Saints bounty scandal all had their suspensions lifted by former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue.
