Reed suspension lifted; replaced with 50k fine

UPDATE

Ted Cottrell has overturned Ed Reed's one game suspension and replaced it with a $50,000 fine.

The National Football League has suspended Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed for one game.

Reed's suspension is for multiple violations of rules regarding hits to the head and neck on defenseless players. The suspension comes after Reed earned an unneccessary roughness penalty on a hit to Emmanuel Sanders of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

The penalty was his third infraction in three seasons after a hit to Deion Branch earlier this season and a hit on Drew Brees in 2010.

Reed is eligible to be reinstated on November 26.
