Crennel names Gibbs defensive coordinator

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel has promoted Linebackers Coach Gary Gibbs to the role of defensive coordinator, according to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star.

Crennel has held the team's defensive coordinator duties in addition to his head coaching role, but has demoted himself after the team's 1-7 start.

Through eight games this season, the Chiefs have averaged 347.5 yards and 30 points per game against with Crennel running the defence.
