Chiefs' Poe on quitting BBQ: "Hardest thing I've had to do"
Kansas City Chiefs nose tackle Dontari Poe has sworn off barbecue in an attempt to improve his play on the field.
"It might be the hardest thing I've had to do since I've been here," Poe told the Kansas City Star Thursday. "I'm trying to cut out the beef and the pork and stay away from the fried foods. And stay away from the barcecue."
The Chiefs' 2012 first-round pick has shed 20 pounds since he began the diet last June and feels more agile.
“I feel like I can play more plays, without getting as tired or exhausted,” the now 355-pound Poe said. “My mind is staying strong out there. And I can play faster.”
Poe was the only rookie to suit up for all 16 of the Chiefs' regular season games last season.
