Capping off an incredible senior season, Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield has been named the Naismith College Player of the Year.

Although his final game with the Sooners ended on a sour note - a blowout at the hands of Villanova in the Final Four - Hield closes out his remarkable collegiate career with another accolade.

The Bahamian born sharpshooter finished second in the nation in scoring, averaging 25 points per game.

Hield carried Oklahoma to a 29-8 record, and dazzled in March Madness, pouring in 126 points over five games.

"Buddy Buckets" is only the second player in Sooners history to win the award, and the first since Blake Griffin took home the hardware in 2009.

Now, Hield's focus shifts to the pro game, where he's expected to be a top-10 pick in the upcoming NBA draft.
