Justin Coleman to transfer out of Alabama program

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

A key piece of Avery Johnson's program is leaving Alabama, as guard Justin Coleman announced he is transferring, effective immediately.

"First off I want to thank God, the University of Alabama, fans and coaches. But Coach Johnson and I have decided it was best to transfer," Coleman said via Twitter.

The 5-foot-10 sophomore was fourth on the team in scoring this season at 7.8 points per game and led the team in assists with 3.3 per contest.

He was recruited to the Crimson Tide program by former coach Anthony Grant, and with highly touted freshman Dazon Ingram returning for his second season, may not fit in Johnson's future plans.
