Liverpool has allegedly entered the race for Fulham's teenage forward Moussa Dembele as Jurgen Klopp looks to freshen up the strikeforce on Merseyside.

Tottenham Hotspur strived to confuse fans by pairing the young Frenchman with its Belgian midfielder Mousa Dembele in January, but Fulham's request for the 19-year-old to remain at Craven Cottage for the remainder of the campaign was rejected. This ultimately saw the deal collapse.

The north London outfit was expected to reignite its interest in Dembele this summer but will now compete with Liverpool, according to the Fulham Chronicle's Matt Lewis, as Klopp readies for wholesale changes within the squad he adopted last October.

Dembele, a former youth product at Paris Saint-Germain, has previously confessed his interest in re-joining the Ligue 1 champion elect in the future.

"Like every Parisian, I dream of playing for PSG," he said.

"I left in 2012 when (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic and (Ezequiel) Lavezzi joined the club. I would have gotten little playing time. PSG were not counting on me.

"I know that some players have gotten their chance since, like Jean-Kevin Augustin, but I preferred to leave and try my luck elsewhere."

With 12 goals over 31 starts in his breakout season in the Championship, Dembele has done his ambitions to earn a big move no harm at all - be it in England or back in France. Fulham faces the visit of Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday.
