The fiasco surrounding the potential retirement of Adam LaRoche - a response to being asked by the Chicago White Sox to limit the clubhouse access of his son Drake - has been one of the most talked about stories of MLB spring training.

While the masses await LaRoche's final decision, the White Sox are remaining hush hush for the time being about the controversial decision which has led to an abundance of support from his teammates and reportedly almost created a boycott against a spring training contest on Wednesday.

"I have no more comment on the matter," White Sox president Ken Williams told MLB.com's Scott Merkin via text message Thursday.

Williams, who was responsible for making the decision, was very frank in a statement about the amount of time kids spend in the clubhouse, saying "You tell me, where in this country can you bring your child to work every day?"

And while the exec did go on to say the club did not make any kind of policy change and that he isn't opposed to the idea of having Drake in the clubhouse, he did think it was wise to have him around less than 50 percent of the time.

LaRoche's teammates didn't take too well to the organization's decision, which included ace Chris Sale reportedly "lighting up" Williams in a heated exchange during a players and management meeting.

A grievance could be filed on behalf of LaRoche by the MLBPA, while the slugger takes some time to mull over his next decision, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

"As you might expect, Adam's taking a deep breath amid everything that's gone on,” MLBPA executive director Tony Clark told reporters. "Adam's got his space to do what he needs to do with his family for the time being."

LaRoche struggled in his first season with the White Sox last season, hitting .207/.293/.340 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs.
