Whitecaps dismantled by surging D.C. United in 4-goal rout
Things did not go quite as planned for the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, as Carl Robinson's side succumbed to a huge 4-0 loss at the hands of D.C. United at RFK Stadium.
Argentine forward Fabian Espindola scored a pair of poacher's goals before substitute Alvaro Saborio cleaned the match up with a pair of late goals of his own, giving Ben Olsen's team all three points for the first time this season.

D.C. United kicked off its 2016 campaign with a pair of losses and three draws in its first five games as the team struggled to combine in the attacking third. Nine conceded goals compounded D.C.'s early-season struggles.
But Olsen's team turned its fortunes around against a Vancouver Whitecaps team trying to forge a new identity and lacking midfield presence, as both Matias Laba and Pedro Morales were unavailable for selection.
Their absences ultimately made for a relatively one-sided fixture between the two teams.
