Bradley, Duke take early Valspar lead; Spieth in trouble

Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Keegan Bradley and Ken Duke handled the strong wind at Innisbrook for a 4-under 67 and the early lead Thursday in the Valspar Championship.

Jordan Spieth struggled from the start and could be headed for another missed cut.

The Copperhead course at Innisbrook is a hard test even in calm conditions. The wind was howling from the opening tee shot, and it showed in the scores. Only four players from the early starters managed to break 70.

Spieth, the defending champion, wasn't close to being one of them. He made five bogeys in his opening seven holes and struggled to a 76. Spieth says this is not the kind of course where it's easy to catch up.
