AC Milan manager Mihajlovic banned 1 match for insulting official

AC Milan will face Chievo Verona on Sunday without manager Sinisa Mihajlovic on the bench, as the Serbian received a one-match ban for remonstrating with the touchline official last weekend.

Lega Serie A charged Mihajlovic with leaving the technical area and using an "insulting expression" in the 2-0 loss at Sassuolo. He perceived a foul before the home side's second goal in the 72nd minute and berated the assistant for the absence of a call.

It was the Rossoneri's first loss in 10 Serie A matches, leaving them in sixth place in the table, nine points off the third and final Champions League spot.

Mihajlovic also addressed reports suggesting he had made the decision to leave the club at the end of the season, calling them "rumours without foundation" and reiterating his commitment to the project.

"I am disappointed that it only takes one defeat in two months to change everything and to start talking again about my future. It goes from one extreme to the other, but the team and I are fully focused on the next game versus Chievo and the final of the TIM Cup," he told the Milan Channel. "The defeat at Sassuolo hurts, but we cannot forget all the positives up until then. We must get back on track right away."
