New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is turning the most harrowing incident of his life into a net positive for his community.

After undergoing the most difficult year of his professional career, Pierre-Paul will visit New York Presbyterian Hospital on Wednesday, and will donate $20,000 to the hospital's burn center in conjunction with CareOne, according to multiple sources.

Pierre-Paul suffered a gruesome injury to his hand during a Fourth of July fireworks incident last summer, which ultimately led to the amputation of one of his fingers.

The Giants' star defensive end returned to action following the amputation, and recorded 26 tackles and a sack in eight games last season.

Pierre-Paul will be specifically visiting the burn center of the hospital, ostensibly to support other burn victims after having experienced his own traumatic incident.
