Carolina Panthers All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly will undergo surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, according to Jonathan Jones and Joseph Person of The Charlotte Observer.
The report says Kuechly is expected to be ready in time for training camp.
The 24-year-old linebacker is coming off an outstanding postseason in which he became the first player to return interceptions for touchdowns in consecutive games.
Despite missing three games due to a concussion early in the season, Kuechly finished with 118 tackles, four interceptions, one sack, and two forced fumbles.
The 24-year-old captured Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, and would've been in the running again had he played the entire campaign.
He reportedly suffered the injury in the regular-season finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but didn't miss anymore time.
One of the anchors of the Panthers' standout defense, Kuechly is imperative to the team's chances of returning to the Super Bowl for a second straight year.
