The Miami Dolphins released cornerback Brice McCain on Friday, the team confirmed.

With the Dolphins struggling to find cap space, the move will save them $2.5 million for the 2016 season.

McCain struggled to cement a place in the Dolphins' starting lineup, registering 39 tackles and one interception in 14 games this season.

The Dolphins also parted ways with defensive end Quinton Coples, who was set to earn $7.8 million in 2016, according to Rand Getlin of NFL Network.

The former first-round pick was claimed by Miami in November of last year after the New York Jets released him, but failed to register a sack in six games.
