Police: LeSean McCoy was involved in alleged assault

Kevin Hoffman / USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia police said Thursday that Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy was definitely one of the people involved in an alleged assault last Sunday, according to Mark Schwarz of ESPN.

Captain Frank Banford denied a report that stated an arrest warrant for McCoy was imminent, saying no charges would be filed Thursday. Banford didn't say whether McCoy would be charged, but indicated to Schwarz that charges connected to the incident are coming.

McCoy and three other men were allegedly involved in an altercation in a Philadelphia nightclub with three off-duty police officers, two of whom were later hospitalized.

The 27-year-old made his first comments since the alleged assault earlier Thursday, appearing to say, "I'll make my statement sooner or later."

McCoy's lawyer said Tuesday that his client will turn himself in if charged.
