Dalton's broken thumb still not 100 percent

Andy Dalton hasn't yet resumed throwing as he continues to work his way back from a broken thumb suffered in a Week 14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback recently indicated the delay is precautionary in nature, but that he isn't quite back to 100 percent in his recovery.

"Not throwing yet because we are being very conservative with it," Dalton told the team's official website this week. "I feel like I can throw but no reason to push anything right now. I have plenty of time now to get 100 percent."

Heading into the postseason, the Bengals expressed optimism that Dalton would be able to return to the lineup.

Looking back now, however, the team website indicates his chances of suiting up at any point before the Super Bowl would've made for a "close, dicey call."

Dalton can be expected to make a full recovery well in advance of training camp this summer, though his target for a healthy return would almost certainly be the start of OTAs this spring.
