49ers' Staley surprises single father with Super Bowl tickets

Long after his season ended, San Francisco 49ers left tackle Joe Staley is making dreams come true.

Staley sought out someone who was in need of an act of kindness and rewarded single father Johnel Spivey with tickets to Super Bowl 50.

Spivey battled through complications stemming from a heart attack and kidney failure and has been on dialysis for the past six years. Regardless, his commitment to his 7-year-old daughter never wavered.

"I'm still overwhelmed and speechless," Spivey said, according to Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News. "I don't feel that I'm worthy of such kindness. I'm just doing what a parent is supposed to do."

Spivey's girlfriend, Patricia Wheeler, emailed the San Jose Mercury News to spread awareness of his story.

"Johnel was moved beyond words," Wheeler wrote. "He broke down crying and had to sit down. He was just overwhelmed.

"Joe told him he'd heard all about him and was very impressed with Johnel's parenting and his hard life. They went back and forth telling stories about kids, life, football and the 49ers."

Staley also provided Spivey and his daughter with jerseys and said the duo would be welcome at 49ers practices next year.
