Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen will start in Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos after working his way back from a foot injury, head coach Ron Rivera announced Friday.
Allen sat out the NFC Championship Game after breaking a small bone in his foot the week prior, but he appears to be in line for a full workload as Carolina pursues its first Lombardi Trophy.
The 33-year-old appeared in 12 regular-season games after joining the Panthers in a trade from the Chicago Bears, recording two sacks and 27 tackles over that span.
Linebacker Thomas Davis is also set to play, despite suffering a broken arm in the NFC title game, putting the Panthers' sixth-ranked defense at full strength.
