Portland Timbers sell midfielder George Fochive to Viborg FF

The Portland Timbers announced Tuesday the club has sold midfielder George Fochive to Danish outfit Viborg FF.

Fochive, 23, has 11 MLS appearances to his name, and club general manager Gavin Wilkinson explained the move came about since the club has multiple players in Fochive's midfield role. Still, head coach Caleb Porter wished him well on his next career step.

"George has made tremendous strides in his development since he was drafted and we are very proud of this growth in our environment," Porter said in a statement. "It has been an initiative of our club to have young players flourish in their careers here and this was a great opportunity for him to keep progressing."

Viborg currently sits 10th in the Danish Superliga with 21 points in 18 games.
