VIDEO: Wind helps Colt Knost knock down birdie putt in pouring rain

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Heavy rain and winds wreaked havoc Sunday at Torrey Pines, causing a delay and plenty of trouble for golfers who headed out early.

One of the few to knock down a birdie in the early going was Colt Knost, who watched as his 40-foot putt took a wild turn before dropping into the hole, sending playing partner Billy Horschel running around the green with his arms raised in excitement.

The luck quickly faded for Knost, as he bogeyed his next two holes with the weather conditions continuing to appear unplayable.
