Knicks owner going on tour with Jewel
James Dolan is hitting the road.
When the New York Knicks owner isn't cutting checks at Madison Square Garden, he's the frontman for indie rock group JD & The Straight Shot.
The four-piece band - led by the 60-year-old billionaire on guitar and vocals - also features Dolan's son Aidan, who plays guitar as well.
The musical ensemble will be touring England before returning stateside to perform with Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Jewel in March, James told TMZ Sports on Wednesday.
Since Dolan gained control of the Knicks in the late '90s, the president and CEO of New York-based TV company Cablevision has seen his team experience its fair share of highs and lows.
An NBA Finals appearance in 1999 was followed by a downward spiral for the franchise, highlighted by a slew of crippling contracts brokered by then-general manager Isiah Thomas and lawsuit-fueled controversy.
On the court, the Knicks failed to make the playoffs for six consecutive years (2004-10) and have not made the postseason in each of the previous three seasons.
The 2015-16 campaign has brought new hope, however, with rookie Kristaps Porzingis playing better than originally anticipated and boosting the team's long-term trajectory.
Hopefully, "The Zinger" means the Knicks' years of "Foolish Games" are at an end.
