Colorado State has named Marty English its new defensive coordinator, the team announced Friday.

English previously served as the Rams' co-defensive coordinator from 2012-14, and was also the linebackers coach. The 29-year coaching veteran worked at Northern Colorado and Wyoming prior to joining the Rams.

He takes over for Tyson Summers, who left to take the head coaching position at Georgia Southern.

"We had lots of very qualified people interested in this job, but we had a very qualified person on this staff who has been a coordinator in this league, and I want to reward people who have been loyal to me," head coach Mike Bobo said. "Marty has done an outstanding job in my time here, and takes great pride in being a Colorado State Ram."
