The San Diego Chargers are considering bringing back a familiar face to fill their vacant offensive coordinator role.

General manager Tom Telesco indicated Friday that San Diego is looking at Ken Whisenhunt, who had the role in 2013, to lead the offense.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the one-year extension for head coach Mike McCoy, Telesco said no interview had taken place yet, but the team is hoping to schedule one soon.

Whisenhunt's excellent work with quarterback Philip Rivers and the Chargers' offense in 2013 earned him the head coaching position with the Tennessee Titans. However, he was fired in November after a poor start to the 2015 season.

Frank Reich replaced Whisenhunt in 2014 after he left for Tennessee, but the Chargers fired him Monday.
