A Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied a request Wednesday to reduce the 33-month jail sentence handed down to former MLB outfielder Milton Bradley, who was convicted in 2013 on multiple counts of domestic violence and abuse, reports Sports Illustrated's Michael McKnight.

After recounting the numerous acts of violence perpetrated by Bradley against his late wife, Monique (she died in 2013 of an unrelated liver problem), Judge Thomas Rubinson chose to uphold Bradley's sentence despite lauding the "impressive" life plan submitted by Bradley to have his jail time reduced.

Bradley, who is scheduled for release in August 2016, vowed to "continue to work on myself," after Rubinson deemed the original sentence "appropriate."

Bradley's behavioral issues manifested repeatedly throughout his 12-year baseball career, during which he played for eight different teams (none of whom employed him for more than three consecutive seasons).
