Giaccherini gives Bologna 3 points as AC Milan spoils chances

Emanuele Giaccherini scored against the run of play to hand visiting Bologna a 1-0 win over AC Milan at San Siro on Wednesday.

The on-loan Sunderland winger struck in the 82nd minute to condemn Milan to seventh place in Serie A, hampering its Champions League aspirations.

The Rossoneri had dominated most of the match but failed to convert their chances. Bologna also needed saves from goalkeeper Antonio Mirante, who denied several clear-cut opportunities.

"When you miss lots of chances like we did today, with five one-on-one situations, then you risk losing the match," said Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Bologna, meanwhile, continues its surge up the standings under Roberto Donadoni. The Rossoblu have earned 17 points out of a possible 27 since he took the reins from Delio Rossi - good enough to take them out of the relegation zone.
