New York Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon isn't often praised for his athletic build, but the 42-year-old's famously plump physique actually belies an impressive combination of strength and anaerobic capacity.

On Tuesday, the former Cy Young award winner and three-time All-Star took to the streets of his native Dominican Republic for an intense morning workout, putting his physical gifts on display for some locals.

Despite being listed at 285 pounds, Colon remains amazingly deft afield - "You would think he's 175 pounds," Mets manager Terry Collins said in 2014 - and told the New York Times in July that he "feel(s) good with the weight I have."

Last month, Colon signed a $7.25-million deal to remain with the Mets in 2016 after crafting a 4.16 ERA (3.84 FIP) over 194 2/3 innings this past summer, his 18th MLB season.
