Douglas Costa, Arjen Robben return to Bayern Munich training

Star wingers Douglas Costa and Arjen Robben returned to Bayern Munich's first training session of 2016 on Monday, joining 24 others as the Bavarian giants prepare for their return to Bundesliga action.

The return of Costa, Robben, and young Spaniard Juan Bernat should help offset injuries to David Alaba, Franck Ribery, Medhi Benatia, and Mario Gotze, who are all carrying knocks.

Costa, who joined the defending Bundesliga champs in the summer from Shakhtar Donetsk, has been sidelined since Nov. 26 with a thigh concern, missing the club's last six matches.

Like Costa, Robben has been stymied by a muscular issue since Nov. 26, and has also been absent for six matches. Though unlike his colleague, the Dutch international has been hampered by an abductor tear that had him miss the first nine games of the year.

Pep Guardiola's lot travel to Hamburg on Jan. 22 after a winter training camp in Qatar, holding an eight-point cushion atop the German top-flight standings.
