Durant to DeAndre Jordan: 'If you don't want to get hacked ... work on your f---ing free throws'
Ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder's game against the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night, Kevin Durant gave his thoughts on the team's potential 'Hack-a-DeAndre' strategy.
"If you don't want to get hacked then work on your f---ing free throws," Durant said to ESPN's Royce Young.
Though harsh, Durant's comment comes with some merit, as the 27-year-old is shooting 88.4 percent from the line this season, good for 11th in the NBA.
By contrast, DeAndre Jordan has been an abysmal free-throw shooter throughout his career, with 2015-16 being no exception. The 6-foot-11 center is shooting 38.8 percent on 227 attempts, many of which can be attributed to Jordan being intentionally fouled.
Many NBA media members have been highly critical of the "hack-a" strategy, as the increased number of free throws slows down the pace of the game and is ultimately more boring for audience members.
Last time the two teams met, the Thunder implemented the strategy, with Jordan going just 12-of-22 from the line in the Clippers' 120-108 win.
