The Kansas City Royals finalized a two-year deal with veteran right-hander Chris Young on Monday that's reportedly worth close to $11.75 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Young's deal also includes a mutual option for 2018, the team announced.

Despite making just a pair of starts over the final two months of the season, Young was an important part of the Royals' World Series run in October. The towering right-hander threw four superb innings of relief in Game 1 of the American League Division Series, before making starts in the AL Championship Series and World Series.

Young, a former All-Star, pitched to a career-best 3.06 ERA over 34 appearances - 18 starts - this year, and has enjoyed considerable success since missing all of 2013 with thoracic outlet syndrome. Over the last two seasons, the 36-year-old owns a 3.40 ERA (113 ERA+) while limiting opponents to a .216 average over 288 1/3 innings.
