Jets' Pryor defends himself vs. Tannehill's accusation of classless celebration

New York Jets safety Calvin Pryor and Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill entered a contentious verbal debate following the Jets' 38-20 win Sunday.

Pryor leveled Dolphins wide receiver Rishard Matthews and celebrated the collision immediately afterwards. Matthews left the game with rib and chest injuries and did not return.

Tannehill accused Pryor of celebrating Matthews' injury as opposed to the result of his big play.

"I was just worried about Rishard. I heard some guys talking about it on the sideline, that's kind of a classless move to celebrate while a guy's injured. Obviously, it was a good hit, a clean hit, but to celebrate when a guy's down it’s kind of a classless move," Tannehill said to reporters postgame.

Pryor said he was merely trying to celebrate the play and blamed Tannehill for putting Matthews in a position to suffer an injury.

"I was definitely celebrating the great play I made. I would never celebrate someone getting injured during the game. C'mon now," Pryor tweeted.

"Throw a better ball next time (Tannehill and your) teammate would've never got injured!!! Sorry if you felt I was classless at the moment."

New York swept the season series, and the Pryor-Tannehill feud will only add fire to a vexed AFC East rivalry.
