The Philadelphia Eagles' chances of reaching the postseason suffered a massive blow after their 45-14 loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

Philadelphia fell to 4-7, and now trail the New York Giants by a game and a half for the NFC East lead.

After the game, a number of Eagles veterans spoke about their embarrassing defeat.

"Ever since I've been an Eagle, we've never lost like this," offensive tackle Jason Peters said to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Peters left the contest in the first quarter due to an ankle injury, and did not return. Lane Johnson was shifted to left tackle, while Dennis Kelly was inserted into the lineup at right tackle.

Johnson was succinct about what he thought of his team's performance.

"We got our ass kicked," Johnson said.

The pressure is mounting on the Eagles, and it's a reality they're going to need to embrace during the home stretch.

"We're at a place right now - 4-7 - where you're going to see more people chirping. That's just what happens," center Jason Kelce said.

In spite of the loss, Peters provided embattled head coach Chip Kelly with a tepid vote of confidence.

"Every year coaches make decisions. It ain't my decision to try and critique them. I'm here to give max effort," Peters said.

"You just got to roll with it," he continued. "It ain't about if you like it or not."

Kelly's scheme is quickly becoming the laughingstock of the league, and with five games remaining, the Eagles will need their best efforts going forward to avoid a complete capitulation.
