The New York Jets are preparing to play Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins without star cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Revis, still dealing with a concussion suffered in last week's loss to the Houston Texans, was sent home from the Jets' facility Wednesday as he's yet to be cleared for team activities.

"I sent him home today and he is still going through (the protocol)," head coach Todd Bowles told reporters. "Hopefully, he will feel a little better as the week goes. He wasn't 100 percent still and the docs won't let him sit in meetings just yet.

"We are ready to play without him, but if he comes back it will be a bonus. We will see later in the week, but we are preparing to play without him."

The perennial All-Pro being forced to the sideline would be a massive loss for an already underachieving New York defense. Either Marcus Williams or Buster Skrine would be elevated into a starting role opposite Antonio Cromartie in Revis' absence.

Revis started each of the first 10 games to open the year after reuniting with the Jets in free agency this past offseason, recording three interceptions and five passes defended over that span.
