Rams' Bailey out of surgery after shooting, in stable condition

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey underwent surgery after being shot in the head twice Tuesday evening in Miami, and is in stable condition, according to ESPN.

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher revealed that Bailey was in surgery for four-to-six hours, although another source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Bailey was under operation for nine hours. The Rams' wide receiver will remain in the intensive care unit for several days.

It is believed that Bailey's injuries are not life-threatening, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

Bailey is currently serving a four-game suspension for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

"I was aware of where he was. I knew he was working out and he was taking care of himself, and he was getting ready to help us win games when his suspension was concluded," Fisher said.

The Rams held a prayer for Bailey prior to Wednesday's practice.
