The Miami Dolphins weren't the only team to place a waiver claim for defensive lineman Quinton Coples.

The Buffalo Bills also had their sights on the New York Jets' 2012 first-round pick, but since the Dolphins have a worse record, they landed him.

In Miami, Coples reunites with former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, who drafted him.

"Well I'm a little upset with Tannenbaum because yeah, I wanted him," Bills head coach Rex Ryan, who coached Coples with the Jets from 2012-14, said Wednesday, via Mike Rodak of ESPN. "I mean, obviously the guy's a talent. You know I know him extremely well, and I think he would have fit in with the group that we have."

The Bills have suffered a rash of injuries to their defensive line. Ryan said that at one point in Monday's loss to the New England Patriots, he was considering moving guard Richie Incognito to defense.
