Newton, Osweiler among NFL's Players of the Week

Cam Newton was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his dominant performance in a blowout win over the Washington Redskins. The Carolina Panthers superstar quarterback finished the day with 246 passing yards and a season-high five touchdowns. He now holds a franchise record with five offensive player of the week awards.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in an impressive road win Sunday over the Philadelphia Eagles. David came away with two interceptions of Mark Sanchez, returning one 20 yards for a touchdown.

NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor goes to Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby after his five field goals helped the team to a key division win over the Minnesota Vikings. This is the sixth time Crosby has earned the weekly award.

AFC

Brock Osweiler is taking home AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after an impressive performance in his first-career start. The Denver Broncos quarterback led the way to a win over the Chicago Bears while filling in for Peyton Manning, completing 20-of-27 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns.

J.J. Watt was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after turning in a two-sack, eight-tackle performance in Sunday's win over the New York Jets. The Houston Texans star defensive end owns the franchise record for most Player of the Week awards with five.

Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt earned the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award for his contributions in a win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Colquitt was consistently pinning San Diego deep in its own territory, averaging 40.6 yards per punt and having four kicks downed inside the 20-yard line.
