Eagles' Kelly gives DC vote of confidence after Sunday's loss

A day after being trounced at home by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly submitted a vote of confidence for defensive coordinator Bill Davis.

Tampa Bay routed Philadelphia 45-17, with rookie quarterback Jameis Winston throwing a career-high five touchdowns Sunday.

The Eagles slipped to 4-6 and rank 16th in scoring defense.

"I've got tremendous confidence in Billy Davis," Kelly said, according to ESPN's Phil Sheridan.

Philadelphia faces four teams with .500 records or better over its final six games, but Kelly believes his team shouldn't be deterred from its philosophy.

"We lost a football game," Kelly said. "We got outplayed, we got out-coached. We need to move forward. We don't need to change how we set up our day or anything like that. We lost a game to a better team."
