The United States failed to build off its opening-match victory during Tuesday's goalless World Cup qualifier draw against Trinidad and Tobago in Port-of-Spain.

A lifeless first-half performance from the Americans was canceled out by an improved second frame featuring various chances to bulge the back of the net. The team's best effort came from a Jermaine Jones strike that produced an impressive save from Trinidad 'keeper Jan Michael Williams.

The hosts enjoyed the majority of chances on goal after testing Tim Howard with a trio of shots. Overall, Trinidad more than doubled the United States' efforts to find the back of the net.

Both teams have collected four points through two matches and sit atop Group C with a one-point edge on Guatemala.
