Report: UFC interested in naming rights for new Las Vegas arena

David Manning / USA TODAY Sports

The UFC could soon house a whole new breed of combatants.

The Las Vegas-based mixed martial arts banner is reportedly interested in acquiring the naming rights to the MGM-AEG Arena, according to KLAS - a local CBS affiliate in Southern Nevada.

Still under construction, the arena is being built with the intent to serve as the home rink for an NHL franchise - that is if Bill Foley's investment team is indeed successful throughout the ongoing application process orchestrated by the league.

No agreement is imminent, but the report suggests that the UFC could decide whether or not it wants to invest millions into the arena - and into the NHL - over the next few weeks.
