Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green left Friday's game against the Calgary Flames with an upper-body injury, the team announced.

Green was hurt in the first period after being nailed into the boards behind the Red Wings' net by Josh Jooris.

The 30-year-old did not return.

Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill had no further update on Green's condition when asked about it after the game, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.

Green signed a three-year, $18-million contract with the Red Wings in the offseason after spending the first nine seasons of his career with the Washington Capitals.
