Chris Neil's 900th career NHL game was certainly a memorable one.

The Ottawa Senators tough guy recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick Thursday, in an absolutely wild tilt against the New Jersey Devils.

Neil showed off his soft mitts first, as he followed up an early assist with a beautiful goal in the third period.

The 36-year-old wasn't done there, however, as he'd drop the gloves with Devils enforcer Jordin Tootoo in a spirited bout later in the frame.

Unfortunately for Neil, the Devils went on to spoil his special night in come-from-behind fashion. Lee Stempniak tied the game with just 32 seconds remaining in regulation, and then scored the shootout winner to give New Jersey a 5-4 victory.

Devils winger Mike Cammalleri recorded three assists in the game, while goaltender Cory Schneider notched his 100th career victory.
